Reboot Windows 10 while playing or when you start a game and suddenly restart your computer? Several users report that after updating Windows 10 20H2, the computer randomly reboots without warning, shuts down as a power failure and reboots as if nothing had happened. The computer starts playing again
The solution works for me: I personally experienced this problem, Windows 10 randomly restarts without warning on my computer. I checked all possibilities and finally found the problem with the graphics card. If your computer reboots during a game, or if Windows 10 accidentally reboots from sleep mode, we recommend that you disconnect the graphics card from the motherboard and see if the problem is solved.
Make sure the game you are trying to open or play on your computer is compatible with your current version of Windows.
Temporarily disable or remove the security software, antivirus on your PC and see if it solves the problem.
Checking WindowsUpdate
Microsoft regularly releases updates for Windows with security improvements and various bug fixes. And installing the latest Windows updates also solves previous problems. Let’s check and install the latest Windows update that might fix this Windows restart cycle error.
- Right-click on the Start menu to select Settings,
- Click Refresh and refresh security in a window,
- Then click Check for Updates to download Windows updates from the Microsoft server,

Graphics driver update
If Windows 10 often restarts only while playing the game, we recommend that you check the graphics driver, you should update the graphics driver or reinstall it with the latest version.
Updating the driver for the graphics card
- Press Windows + R, type devmgmt.msc and press ok.
- The Device Manager opens and displays a list of all installed device drivers,
- Expand Display Adapters, right-click the NVIDIA Graphics Card and select Update Driver,
- Click Auto Scan to check for drivers so that driver updates can be downloaded from the Microsoft server (if available).

Reinstalling the graphics card driver
You can also uninstall the current graphics driver, download the latest installation and install from the manufacturer’s website to solve the problem.
To uninstall the graphics driver:
- Open the Device Manager again using devmgmt.msc or right-click on the start menu and select Device Manager,
- Expand Display Adapters, right-click the NVIDIA GeForce driver and select Remove.
- When prompted for confirmation, select the Uninstall the driver software for this device check box and click the Remove button.
- Now open the Control Panel and click on Uninstall program.
- Uninstall everything related to Nvidia (your graphics driver) and reboot your system to save your changes.
Download now the latest graphics driver from the manufacturer’s website. Right-click the file setup.exe, select Run as Administrator, and follow the on-screen instructions to install the latest graphics driver on the device.
Restart the computer. This should correct the accidental restart of the computer in Windows 10.

Hardware malfunction check
Again, an accidental restart on Windows 10 can happen due to a hardware error, so it’s always a good idea to check your hardware. Several users reported that after replacing the defective power supply, memory module or graphics card, the problem was solved. If your device is under warranty, it is best to take it to a repair shop and have it checked.
Turn off the computer and disconnect it from the power source.
Open the lid, locate the RAM keys, remove them all and try to turn on the computer with each key individually. Also clear your RAM.
Test the memory module for errors
Run the built-in memory diagnostics program, which helps diagnose memory errors on the computer.
- Press Windows + R, type mdsched.exe and click OK,
- Select Restart now and check for problems,

BIOS Update
Sometimes you can solve the problem of accidentally rebooting the computer by updating the BIOS.
Pay attention: Upgrading the BIOS is an essential task and if something goes wrong, the system can be seriously damaged.
- First run the msinfo32 command to determine your BIOS version.
- As soon as the system information window opens, scroll down and find the BIOS version/date and note the manufacturer and the BIOS version.
- For example, go to the manufacturer’s website. B. Dell Support.
- Search for the model of your device to see the latest driver for your PC,
- Download the BIOS driver from here and run the exe file by double clicking on it.
- Once you have updated your BIOS, it can also restore the accidental restart of your computer in Windows 10.
You can also run the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) command to restore your system to working condition and a System File Checker utility to restore the Windows system image and restore missing system files with the correct image. Or perform a system repair, returning the system to its previous operating state and resolving the problem.
