Fixing The ‘Steam Game Already Running’ Error

Like most gaming platforms, Steam comes with some annoying bugs that can be very painful if you don’t know how to fix them. One of the most annoying things is when you try to download your favorite game and Steam tells you that it’s already online – when in fact it’s not.

Fortunately, this particular bug is one of the easiest (and fastest) to fix. We have already described below the most common methods to correct the spelling error, including some other related corrections.

don’t use the foreplay.

Exit the game in Task Manager

This proven method almost always works. Sometimes a game file is not completely closed, so that some games remain open in the background of the PC. In this case, aborting the task and restarting the game solves the problem. Here’s how:

  1. Open Task Manager – CRTL+Alt+Del
  2. Find the game you want to download in the Task Manager – it may be necessary to open other processes and find the game next to other files running on the PC.
  3. When you have found it, right click on the game and select End Taskfrom the drop-down list.
  4. If the game is completely closed, just try restarting it by double-clicking the icon on the desktop or via the Steam Library.

Reboot by

The above method almost always works, but sometimes it does not. For those who are still struggling to fix the error in Steam, here are some alternative solutions:

  1. Open the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del and select it from the available options.
  2. After opening, select ‘More info‘ and search for the application ‘Steam‘.
  3. When you have found it, right-click Steam and select End of Task from the drop-down menu.
  4. Wait about a minute after closing for the pair to close completely.
  5. Then try to restart Steam and you will be able to download your game.

Start of closed loop

There are a few games that load a game launcher at the same time as the Steam client. Like a game z. B. has an introductory menu that is actually out of the game, nine times out of ten it is a launcher, often minimized as a separate application in the taskbar.

If this error persists, look in the task bar for the launcher of the game you are trying to play. If you can, right-click, close the application and restart the game. That should do it.

Reboot your PC to

If none of the above methods have worked, it’s definitely time to try restarting your computer. If many see this as a peaceful task that doesn’t really help, they can’t be wrong anymore. This will not only restart Steam completely, but it will also reload all associated temporary files/data. A complete system reset should never be missed.

Reinstalling the game

If this error occurs again – which is extremely rare – the last thing we recommend is to reinstall the game. This is really the final hurdle and it should solve all the stubborn problems you have while loading your game. Here’s how to quickly reinstall the steam game:

  1. Start downloading Para
  2. Find your game library and right click on the game you want to reinstall.
  3. Find Uninstall in the drop down menu and select it.
  4. You will then be asked by Steam to remove the files from the game – just click on the Remove button and Steam will start deleting all the files in the game.
  5. Once the operation is complete, run a quick restart of Steam.
  6. When restarting, go back to the game library and find the game you want to reinstall.
  7. Right-click on the game and select Install from the drop-down menu.
  8. Click on Next and then click on Finish.
  9. The game automatically starts reloading the game files
  10. Once you’ve done that, you can start the game again.
